About the Monty Hall Problem
The Monty Hall problem is a famous probability puzzle based on the American television game show "Let's Make a Deal."
Here's how it works:
- You are presented with three doors. Behind one door is a prize, and behind the other two are goats (or nothing).
- You select a door, but it remains closed.
- The host (Monty Hall), who knows what's behind each door, opens one of the doors you didn't pick to reveal a goat.
- You are now given a choice: stick with your original door or switch to the other remaining closed door.
- The question is: Should you stay with your original choice or switch to the other door to maximize your chances of winning?
Surprisingly, the best strategy is to always switch! By switching, your probability of winning increases from 1/3 to 2/3.
